Why condoms burst

It is more distressing for God to see you single than it is for you yourself– Pastor Tom Mugerwa

In Ugandan speak, we call it a condom bursting, but whatever we call it, no one wants to find themselves in a situation where they are “wearing a skirt” instead of a condom when “beating the rat”.  Here are reasons why that condom will break.

  1. According to condomdepot.com, one of the main reasons of condoms breaking is if they are expired. Please check the expiry date before dressing up.
  2. If the condom is too small, or too short, it will be stretched beyond capacity when the little man down there becomes a bigger man due to sexcitement.
  3. Many guys keep a CD in the wallet or in the car glove compartment, but proper storage is important if you want your condom to last as long as your round. Keep your condoms in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.
  4. Water is key. If your partner is waterlogged, then it is unlikely that your condom will break, but if her central region is as dry as the Karamoja rocks, you might have to  use some lubricants.
  5. Sometime your pals might tell you that they don’t trust a certain kyana, that she is WW (wolira wofira), but then you think she is too good to resist, so you decide to wear more than one rubber to double or even triple the protection. My brother, too much of anything is bad. Wearing more than one condom will cause friction to build up in between the two condoms, which can result in the condom tearing.
  6. Because you are in a hurry and like the case is that Ugandans like eating things in the dark, you might open the package badly, in the end damaging the condom. Open the condom pack towards the edge or corner, not in the middle. And do not use scissors, a knife, or teeth.
  7. Where you buy your condoms matters. It is advisable to go to reputable pharmacies. They might cost more than the Shs500, that the guy outside your popular nightspot who sells chewing gum and condoms might sell them to you for, but really is your life as cheap as a Shs500 coin? Those things are usually not properly stored, so don’t say matookerepublic.com didn’t warn you.
