Journalist Andrew Mwenda’s car has been rammed into by a truck at his Independent magazine offices at Kanjokya Street in Kamwokya this afternoon.

Eyewitnesses say that the posh Audi Q7 SUV, Reg No. UAK 277 Q was parked at the Independent offices and Mwenda was in office when a heavy truck from a neighbouring construction site rammed into it from the rear.

Even if Mwenda who also airs his opinions on an NTV Newsnight slot every night on NTV is an outspoken journalist, foul play has been ruled out and the blame put entirely on the recklessness of the truck driver.

“The site is in such a confined place that space for maneuvering is little… friends; don’t read so much into this! Andrew was in office,” posted one of the staff members at The Independent.

“This is the second accident I’m seeing on the same street in two weeks, another truck recently rammed into our car just two blocks away! Hope we do not see more accidents on this narrow and congested street,” said Magelah Peter Gwayaka who also works on the same street.
