A poster of singer Desire Luzinda campaigning to represent Kampala women in Parliament on an NRM ticket come the 2016 elections, surfaced on social media last week.

The poster started making rounds after Desire posted photos of herself being mobbed by a mammoth crowd when she drove through downtown Kampala last Tuesday. The singer made the public appearance to reassure her fans that she was safe and out of prison as she had been held the previous Saturday over failure to honour a Shs24m debt that she borrowed from Cavendish University lecturer, Jimmy Alemiga.

On the poster, Desire advocated for the “promotion of talent and prosperity for all women.” (Probably putting their ekitone to good use).

Desire’s camp has come out to distance themselves from the poster, calling it the work of an idler with some photoshop skills.

“This was photoshopped because Desire has no intention to join politics,” Desire’s manager Sam Yiga said.

FDC’s Nabilah Naggayi is the current Kampala District Woman MP.

“True she has a few friends in that field but we are keeping our sights on only the music industry,” he added.

The singer has just released the video of Tononya, her collabo with Radio and Weasel.
