It was an empowering Women’s Day performance as a six-months-pregnant Nigerian diva Tiwa Savage put up a scintillating performance in a show organised to celebrate womanhood at the Kati Kati Grounds on Sunday night.

“UG, I love you so much. You made be travel many hours with this belly,” she said sending the crowd into wild cheers.

She went through a rigorous dance routine with her four dancers leaving fans ululating and awing at how an expectant mother could dance so vigorously.

Tiwa almost slipped during one of her routines, so she put off her high heels and continued with her performance like nothing had happened. She did songs like Kele Kele Love, Love Me, I Dey Catch Cold, Girlie O, Eminado and crowned her set with the Mavin Records run-away hit Dorobucci.

The Women’s Day concert that was sponsored by Airtel also had several other performers including Lillian Mbabazi, Irene Ntale, Cindy and Keko but it was Sheeba Karungi who ruled among the ladies performing her hit songs like Twesana and new ones like Malidadi and By The Way (Okikola Otya) that were also well received by the audience.

The emcee of the event was Flavia Tumusiime who looked smashing in her afro-print short shorts and one the decks was DJ Karo.

Contrary to earlier communications that it would only be a women’s affair, several male performers also graced the stage including Airtel Rising Stars runner-up Bruno Kiggundu who did an acapella version of Dorobucci, Toniks and a host of others like GNL, Ray Signature, Big Trill and Maurice Hasa who got onto stage to do the Kaleke Kasome remix, a project of one of the day’s sponsors Reach A Hand.

There was also a surprise performance as Jose Chameleone hit the stage and had the crowd sing along to his monster Wale Wale hit. Despite his current troubles with the Director of Public Prosecution ordering the re-opening of a case in which he is accused of having murdered a one Robert Karamaji at his Seguku home in 2012, Chameleone showed he is a musical powerhouse with the crowd dancing to his tune.

The show ended at 10.55pm when the main act of the night Tiwa Savage crowned her performance with Dorobucci.
