Oscar Award winning Kenyan actress Lupita Nyongo is in the country to shoot the Queen of Katwe Movie. She has not been to her motherland Kenya and already Kenyans are cross that she came straight to Uganda from the US where she is based, without visiting the land of her ancestors. But at least she endorsed Uganda as the Pearl of Africa when she shared a photo with Queen of Katwe director Mira Nair on her social media.

“From 6000 pearls to just 1: Uganda. Excited to be back in East Africa to work with ‪#‎MiraNair‬ on ‪#‎QueenOfKatwe‬. ‪#‎MaishaAlive‬‪#‎nofilter‬,” She posted on her social media platforms.

Lupita made her first public appearance on Saturday during a fundraising for Mira Nair’s Maisha Film Lab. Lupita will act the mother of chess prodigy Phiona Muteesi in the Queen of Katwe movie.
