sal4[dropcap]C[/dropcap]omedian Patrick Salvado Idringi left people in stitches at his Man From Ombokolo one-man show held at the Kampala Serena Hotel on Tuesday. The comedian cracked jokes about his father and mother that were in the audience.

“My father paid for my tuition fees for a telecom engineering course at Makerere. After a few years of working at a telecom company, I told him that I was resigning and that I wanted to make people laugh. That didn’t make him laugh, but he said if it is what I wanted to do, I should go ahead,” Salvador said before taking a swipe at MTN, his former workplace.

“I will not mention the company because they did not sponsor this show,” Salvador said, sending the audience into bouts of laughter, before he dropped the punchline.

“It is that company whose crocodiles eat people’s MBs,” he said, literally killing the audience.

MTN released a commercial earlier last year that featured a little girl that unknowingly picked a crocodile’s egg in the wild. When the egg hatched, she realised it was a crocodile and googled, “what do crocodiles eat,” going on that with MTN’s Internet bundles … “Oh the things you learn.”

Unfortunately, MTN’s system for much of last year was unstable and many customers paid for Internet bundles that were not being remitted. The MTN crocodile advert turned on them with a viral social media joke answering the little girl’s innocent question with “MTN crocodiles eat bundles!”

When Salvado cracked the joke, many people related.
