428 MPs were sworn in for the 10th Parliament last week. They held their first sitting in the gallery on Thursday and it dawned on them that there is just not enough space for them to conduct business.

Parliament was initially built to accommodate 80 MPs, but the number has since swelled to 428, thanks to new districts that also come with new constituencies.

But the bigger problem is that the large number means MPs will now have to share office space.

Over the weekend, Parliament authorities sent a message to all MPs, asking them to form groups of three before applying for office space at Parliament.

“Dear Colleague, you are kindly requested to group yourselves in threes and submit [your names] to Office of Government Chief Whip on Monday [May] 23 for office allocation. Thanks for bearing with us… ..” the message read.
