While his traditional competitors Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine have just announced dates for their 2016 concerts, Jose Chameleone has confirmed he will not be staging a concert this year.

On Friday, Bebe Cool held a press conference at Liquid Silk in Bugolobi to announce his Life of Bebe Cool concert, slated for August 5 at the Kampala Serena Hotel. A day later, Bobi Wine announced his Aidah Bikwase Kyagulanyi concert to take place on October 15 at his One Love Beach in Busabala.

But Jose Chameleone says he will not hold a concert this year. While appearing on NBS’ KUT show on Saturday, a caller asked when the star currently riding on his Agatako collabo with Rwanda’s DJ Pius would hold a concert.

“I don’t want to lose my money, so I am not holding a concert this year. People want me to lose my money, but I am smarter than that,” Chameleone said.

Chameleone is still wary that fans will boycott his concert as they have done for some musicians who were on the Tubonga Nawe project that drummed up support for President Yoweri Museveni during the previous elections.

The singer was quick to note that Tubonga Nawe was a job like any other, which he accomplished, adding that fans are not entitled to making him choices.

“My fans should know that they are not shareholders in my business. Our contract stops at music. I choose who I support and they are entitled to their choices. Are they supposed to choose for me which food to eat and which trouser to wear? Okwo kuba kujooga,” Chameleone said during a chat with the show’s host Tuff B.

The singer noted that besides, he has a busy calendar. “I have just returned from a US tour and a South African tour is lined up,” he said.
