The Constitutional Court is set to hear the case in which Twaha Sanywa, a concerned citizen applies that the court should stop the government from buying cars for members of Parliament.

In the case set to be heard by Justice Richard Buteera, Twaha claims that by using consolidated funds to buy MPs vehicles worth 64 billion, the country will suffer great losses which will take time to recover.

Twaha also says that MPs can instead acquire means of transport by public procurement under the Public Procurement and disposal of Public Assets law.

He urges the court to declare the move as not only extravagant but also discriminatory and unconstitutional as the tax payer stands the risk to lose public funds if government extends such privileges to MPs.
