While addressing journalists at Makerere Guest House, the guild president Roy Semboga said since the university was closed, neither government nor the University council have come out to inform them as of when the university will be re-opened.

This has come after the arrest of four Makerere students by Kampala Metropolitan Police who were moving around the City streets holding placards today afternoon shouting ‘’we want Makerere open’’.

The students who were seen dressed in the ‘Ivory towers’ gowns were protesting against University closure when police halted their move and arrested them.

The placards had captions ‘’closing Makerere is murdering the academics of Africa’’.

‘’Students have a right to information, much as the committee of inquiry is still conducting its job, they could continue with the investigation while students are studying,’’ said Sembogga
