Police has this morning swept through the residence of city businessman Mathew Kanyamunyu who is said to have shot a Community Development Officer (CDO) Keneth Akena after the latter scratched the former’s car on Saturday morning.

According to Police Andrew spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi, police has searched Kanyamunyu’s house in a bid to garner more evidence relating to whether he has a firearm.

Kanyamunyu and a Burundi national- Cynthia Munangwari, who is alleged to be the former’s girlfriend, have been in police custody since Saturday as key suspects in the death of Akena who was shot at Forest Mall Lugogo parking on Saturday morning.

Akena died moments later at Norvik hospital where he had been driven by the two suspects- Kanyamunyu who said they were only good Samaritans. The good Samaritans had earlier driven Akena to two health facilities that kept referring them to other facilities.

However, according to the late Akena’s relatives, he gave a dying declaration pointing fingers at Kanyamunyu as the person that shot him and took his life.

However, Kaweesi did not reveal if the police found any incriminating evidence or any leads after the search at Kanyamunyu’s residence.
