The university’s head of security Jackson Muchunguzi told us that Rwothongeyo was  found by patrolling police that was deployed to guard the University following its closure lying unconscious at the main gate.

“During our routine police patrol, we found somebody who was sleeping around main gate and when we checked on him, he could neither speak nor move. We took him to Mulago National Referral Hospital where he died on arrival,” Mr Muchuguzi said.

However, the cause of Rwothongeyo’s death is still uncertain as Police is still waiting for a postmortem report from doctors at Mulago.
“Our police officers have already started investigations, starting from the hostel near Law Development Centre [LDC] where he was staying,” Muchunguzi added.
Muchunguzi also bitterly warned students who are still camping in the University hostels that they are staying there at their own risk and no one is responsible for their lives because the university was closed and everyone was expected to go home.
