King Mumbere in hot soup as police add terrorism charges

The woes of Omusinga Charles Mumbere and the people of Rwenzururu is far from over. The police has revealed the remanded king will face more charges.

While speaking to journalists last evening, Kampala police mouthpiece Andrew Felix Kaweesi revealed that Omusinga Mumbere will have to face a range of  charges related to the Kasese unrest including terrorism, murder, destruction of property and arson.




The Omusinga Mumbere was arrested at his palace after a raid and remanded in Nalufenya,Jinja district. The clash claimed lives of over 100 people including police officers, army me, royal guards and civilians.

The king appeared before Jinja Chief Magistrate John Francis Kaggwa who charged him with murder he allegedly killed in March a case that was not related to the most recent Kasese clashes.  In related news, Kaweesi  explained the discrepancy in the number of clashes stating that some who might have escaped the heat of the fight later succumbed to  injuries away from the central point of clashes.
