President Museveni drops Felix Kulayige, Paddy Ankunda in new army reshuffle

President Museveni continues to shape up the UPDF ranks. After 15 changes were named earlier this week, the president has followed up with new changes which has seen media darling Paddy Ankunda and Felix Kulayige replaced.

Paddy Ankunda has been replaced by Brig Richard Karemire, formerly deputy CMI boss, making it the first time an officer at the rank of brigadier is made spokesperson of the UPDF. Brigadier Proscovia Nalweyiso, senior presidential advisor on defence and security has been promoted to Major General making her the highest ranking female officer ever in UPDF history.

UPDF chief political commissar, Col Felix Kulaigye has also been replaced by Col Henry Matsiko, formerly working under president’s office, while Brig Sam Kavuma is now deputy commander Air Force.

– Col. Felix Kulayigye has been dropped as army’s Political Commissar, replaced by Col. Henry Matsiko, who has been promoted Brig. General.

– Col Richard Kalemeire has been promoted to Brig. General, replaces Col. Paddy Ankunda as army spokesperson

– Brig. Proscovia Nalweyiso has been promoted to Maj. General, she becomes the highest female ranking officer in UPDF history

– Col Igumba has also been promoted to the rank of Brig. General, he becomes the new Chief of Personnel & Administration

– Brig. General Paul Lokech is now the Second Division Commander, Brig. Kabong is the new 5th Division Commander
