The 2017 AFCON finally registered its first win after the first three games ended in a stalemate. Senegal’s first half goals guaranteed their victory over Tunisia who dominated the game but failed to utilise their chances.

Hosts Gabon played the first fixture against Guinea Bissau and looked to be destined for victory after Emerick Aubemeyang’s 52nd minute strike. Guinea Bissau spoilt the party for the hosts after a diving header turned the mood from sweet to bitter in the closing seconds of the 90th minute.

In game two of group A; Uganda Cranes qualification group-mates Burkina Faso held a 1-1 draw against Cameroon. 28-year-old forward Benjamin Moukandjo who plays for France based club Lorient scored a sweet free-kick for Cameroon in the 35th minute.
