Hon Sarah Opendi has lately been in the news over allegedly battling to escape the friend zone. NRM electoral Commission Chairperson Dr. Tang Odoi claims he placed her in an eternal friend zone.

Yes, the Electoral Commission boss has failed to find where to place a tick in her heart. If you have been trying to escape the friend zone after a week, month or year, cheer up! A (full) minister has been friend zoned for years and still counting! However, Tanga Odoi could just be a man scared of a beauty who knows what she wants!

Well if Odoi’s words are anything to go by, we say “Go on girl!” No one likes to spend a second in the friend zone which makes Sarah Opendi, a woman of power.  We appreciate a woman who knows what she wants. She is our Woman Crush Wednesday this first day of February.

Sarah Achieng Opendi, who is the State Minister of Health for General Duties, was born in Tororo District on 26th September 1968.

In 1994, she studied at National College of Business Studies where she attained a Diploma in Accounting.  After passing the examinations of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in 1998, she also graduated at Makerere with the degree of Bachelors of Business Administration. Later in 2005, she also received a degree of Masters of Business Administration.

Ocheng’s political career began in 2011 when she successfully contested for the Tororo Woman MP and was subsequently appointed Minister for Lands.

In 2012, she was appointed Minister of State for Primary Healthcare until in 2016 when she was appointed State Minister of Health for General Duties.  He might have won several elections and earned positions but Tanga’s heart still remains elusive and might have not given up yet! We admire the two.
