Politics is not easy and it seems  Rwenzururu royal family has come in terms with the tunes of the time. Members of the Rwenzuru kingdom Royal family are set to stand in as sureties for their King Wesley Charles Mumbere against  treason and murder charge as he appears before Jinja Court magistrate for hearing of his second bail application.

The Rwenzuru spokesperson Clearance Bwambale yesterday said that the royal family including Christopher Kibanzanga the Agricultural state minister are optimistic that their king will today be granted bail because this time round since  it’s not the opposition politicians who are standing in as sureties for the king as it was earlier. FDC strong man Kizza Besigye and  several opposition figures earlier stood surety for the embattled king.

Mumbere was granted bail but shortly  re-arrested outside court and later produced in Jinja court where he had fresh charges of murder and terrorism opened up against him.

In case the Jinja court magistrate judge finds  bail application grounds provided by Mumbere’s lawyers and the royal family justifiable, he could enjoy partial freedom.

Mumbere together with over 150 of his royal guards were arrested and later charged with counts of murder, terrorism , and treason in connection with the November 17, 2016 Kasese unrest in which more than 100 people were left dead.
