FDC strong woman, Salaamu Musumba has been attacked by several of her colleagues over her close relationship with members of the ruling party NRM. A section of these people fear that a close relationship with the ruling party members might entice her to cross over to the camp.

However while speaking today on NBS TV, she revealed that it is only a cordial relationship. When asked about hobnobbing with NRM honchos, she responded; “I have served with Hon. Kadaga- in fact we call each other girlfriend! Hon. Kasule Lumumba is my sister! President Museveni just loves me; he would love to have me in his camp. But they cannot manage me because I will not fit in their team”.

She proudly stated that FDC is ingrained in her DNA and there is nothing that can take her out of the party.

“FDC is in my DNA, its in my make up; even if I go to work, I work blue; I work FDC!’ she bragged.

Salaamu Musumba was speaking on NBS TV following her election petition victory against Kamuli Municipality MP Rehema Tiwuwe Watongola. She was out of Parliament on grounds that she lacks the required academic qualifications equivalent of senior six when she was nominated to contest for the elections.

Three Justices led by Richard Buteera concurred with Jinja High Court Judge Geoffrey Namundi that Watongola failed to explain her academic papers after being disowned by Busoga University, which she claims, awarded them.

The judges then dismissed the appeal, ordered Watongola to pay FDC’s Salaam Musumba costs, and also ordered that the Electoral Commission should conduct fresh elections.
