Things are looking very good for The Observer’s long-serving editor Richard Kavuma. The soft-spoken journalist, whose friends refer to as Rimkav, won’t be at The Observer’s Kamwokya base for much longer.

That is because he recently landed a plum communications job with the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

IOM is the UN’s migration agency, and Kavuma will take charge of comms work for their Kampala office. Until now, however, he had done his best to remain tightlipped about it all. He even tried his best to avoid questions on a Facebook thread where Chris Obore first hinted on Rimkav’s imminent departure.

Chris didn’t mention Kavuma’s next stop in that post, but you can always trust us to dig up little details like these, can’t you?
