Artistic impressions of what the new Uganda Airlines planes will look like have leaked. The images surfaced on social media on the heels of Civil Aviation Authority Managing Director, Dr. David Mpanga Kakuba announcing that the airlines will hit the skies again this December.

“Initially it was scheduled for August but this was pushed to December.  We are determined to see it begin flying by December,” Dr. Mpanga said while addressing journalists on the expansion of Entebbe Airport that is on-going.

Uganda Airlines was started in 1977 by President Idi Amin and it was liquidated in 2001 over a $6m (about Shs21billion) debt.

Last month, cabinet approved the airline’s revival.

The revival is estimated to cost $400m (about Shs1.4 trillion).
