Kawempe South Member of Parliament Mubarak Munyagwa, commonly known as Mugati Gwa Butter has been released from Luzira Prison where he had been jailed  for the last two weeks. Munyagwa’s return to temporary freedom  follows the acceptance to make a down payment of Shs15m and a promise to complete his debt come August 2, 2017. I tell you prison is no joke!

Head of the execution division of the High Court, Justice Anglin Ssenoga mediated the payment agreement between MP Munyagwa and city Businessman John Baptist Maali.

Munyagwa was arrested on April 10, 2017 and taken to court by Alpha Court Bailiffs. Florence Nassuna, the registrar in court’s execution division sent him to Luzira Prison to serve a six months sentence. This was due to Munyagwa’s failure to vacate or transfer the title in Maali’s names despite receiving agreed payment of Shs100m.
