While the press is awash with reports about insecurity, thugs and break-ins,   Brig Kasirye Gwanga, the presidential advisor on security in Buganda region says the situation is normal.

While appearing in an interview with NBS TV this morning, he put the blame on media houses.

“To me, there is nothing much happening. It’s the press which is over blowing it out of proportion”, he stated.

However, he noted that there are glitches in intelligence due to lack of training and a shortfall in funding.

“There is a breakdown in intelligence due to lack of training and poverty. Some of these senior officers take all the resources. These people use informants and don’t facilitate them,” he revealed.

Kasirye went ahead to question why, IGP Kale Kayihura, a military general was appointed to command the Police Force saying the two institutions are totally different.

“Police and military are trained differently; what is an army general doing in the police? You can’t compare Uganda’s military with international military. We are very small with less facilitation,”he said.
