KCCA FC one point away from 12th league crown as they host Lweza FC

KCCA FC will today need just a point against Lweza FC to be crowned champions of 2016-17 Azam Uganda Premier League. The game will be played at their home ground, Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo where they have had a decent record throughout the season.

A point for KCCA FC in today’s game will see them retain and seal a 12th League title despite having two league games to play.

 “We are taking the game very seriously because we are using it as preparation for the CAF Confederation Cup against FUS Rabat and above all if we win it, we will be champions,” said Mike Mutebi, Head coach of KCCA FC.



Lweza FC is in a relegation struggle  as they look to reinforce their chances of playing in the top flight next seaso. KCCA FC won the first leg 1-0 away at Lweza in Wankulukuku thanks to a well directed headed goal from veteran striker Geoffrey Sserunkuma. Currently, KCCA is comfortably placed top of the table with 57 points in 27 games. SC Villa is placed second with 52 points and an extra game.

Another big fixture of the day will see Vipers SC hosting Onduparaka fc at the St Mary’s Kitende Stadium. Both teams are fighting to finish the season at least in the top four positions.
