As President Museveni addresses the country in the much anticipated “State of the Nation address” happening at Kampala Serena Conference Centre, he has called upon the youth to take advantage of the wealth creation initiatives started by the government to become self reliant. He also cautioned Police against arresting the youth.

“I was in Kalerwe and youth complained of being arrested for being ‘idle and disorderly’. Police must stop arresting people. The youth are idle because they have no jobs, why should you arrest them?” President Museveni pondered.

Museveni added that the government has initiated projects directed to address unemployment levels amongst the youth.

“Using only UGX 271m through my State House controller I have bought common user machines for furniture makers in Nsambya. I have given support to 105 groups in the Katwe (UGX 375m) and 17 groups in Najjera (337m). This means that youths are transformed from being idle and unemployed into wealth creators and job creators.” he explained

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni also talked about the current security challenges in the country saying the concerned agencies are doing all the possibilities to ensure there is no gaps leading to insecurity.

Following the death of AIGP Felix Kaweesi, he ordered for the installation of cameras. However, it has not yet been fulfilled. He called upon members of the public who can afford cameras to install them.

“I call upon the rich businessmen and residents that can afford to install cameras around their homes and businesses- This helps the police who have limited means at the moment,” President Museveni stated.
