According to the party, this move is intended to strengthen the opposition in pursue of defeating NRM’s Sitenda Sebalu. However, there are still five more candidates left in the race; singer Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine, FDC’s Apollo Kantinti, FDC defiant candidate Muwada Nkunyingi contesting as an Independent, Sitenda Ssebalu and Sowedi Kayongo (Independent).

Mao also said that by midday tomorrow, DP will have announced who they will back in the race. Bobi Wine is the most likely candidate to get DP’s backing, as his family has strong DP roots.
