Court upholds Peter Ssematimba’s victory as Busiro South MP

The Court of Appeal has this morning confirmed Hon. Peter Ssematimba as the valid Member of Parliament elect for Busiro South.

This comes after Ssematimba filed an appeal challenging High Court judge Lydia Mugambe’s ruling in which she nullified his election and ordered for fresh elections.

Before all this political drama, Stephen Sekigozi, one of the contestants in the 2016 Busiro South parliamentary elections challenged Peter Ssematimba’s victory on grounds that he lacked the minimum required Education requirements stated in the law to contest as an MP.
