If you are expecting an NRM MP to hold a rally or hold public gatherings to consult your constituency over age limit, don’t be shocked when none of it happens! Government chief whip Ruth Nakabirwa has stated that according to their methodology, they will hold conferences with local leaders in the community instead of rallies.

“We have been strategizing on how to interface with our Constituents trying to come out with a methodology to consult as many people as possible within the short period of time since we don’t want to be called back by Parliament when we have not finished with consultations,” Nankabirwa told the media while addressing press shortly after the caucus meeting yesterday.

The chief whip explained, “I was able to guide them that we should hold constituency conferences involving both elected and non-elected leaders in the community (local government leaders), opinion leaders, religious leaders, NRM Party structures especially at the constituency level.”

When asked whether it would not be a biased exercise, she stated that they can’t reach to everyone.

“I swear I can’t reach out to everybody. Do you think it is possible to involve the 30, 000 voters in Kiboga district, this is not a campaign.”
