The SMACK League select team will take on St. Henry’s College Kitovu OBs.

The exhilarating SMACK league that lights up Kampala on Sundays reaches its half way mark this Sunday, November 26, with a friendly game between SMACK and St. Henry’s College Kitovu old boys as the day’s highlight.

The match will be in remembrance of the Late Brother Anthony Kyemwa a former headmaster at both schools who passed away this week.

The Late Brother Anthony Kyemwa (1930 – November 23, 2017).

“He was known to be a very pragmatic and compassionate disciplinarian. He will dearly be missed and the SMACK League will honor him on the 26th November 2017′, said Moses Tumusiime the SMACK League chairman.

Kyemwa was the first black headmaster of St. Mary’s College Kisubi. He was also the sculptor of landmark statue of the Virgin Mary that stood in the middle of the SMACK quadrangle.

The game between SMACK and SHACK will renew the olden De Lamennais rivalry, an annual tournament between schools founded by the Brothers of Christian Instruction.

Team Mama Teo (in blue), the oldest team in the league are hosting Match Day 26th.

The fortnightly SMACK league is a networking initiative, started by old boys of St Mary’s College Kisubi, one of the oldest and most prestigious secondary schools in the country, to use sports as leverage to catch up on lost time, create a robust social support group, avail a mutual business platform and enhance physical well-being.

The league’s maiden season, hosted by Bat Valley P/S, created one of the best Sunday family days in Kampala, uniting about 600 old boys, their families and friends. This generated networks and linkages that grew into business support.

“When my team Kiama participated in its first match day, I closed a deal with Valhalla (a bar and restaurant belonging to SMACK OBs) to purchase my supply. That was just the first link. Every match day I look forward to closing a deal for my business. It’s an opportunity for me to get business or put someone in business” said Jack Seruwo, proprietor of Pork Parkers in Naalya.

As the second season of the Smack League hits its mid-way mark, the OBs are keen to celebrate the victories so far achieved in a different way. The day has been dubbed Match day 26th and the venue changed from hosts, Bat Valley P/S to MUBS playground in order to accommodate more activities planned for the day. The day is themed ‘One Family’ and all the league action will be posted real time on ‘The Smack League App’. It will feature a highly anticipated all ladies match involving the wives, girlfriends, friends, neighbors, slay queens and all fun loving ladies.

WAGs (Wives and Girlfriends) and friends are a common fixture in the stands. This time they will take part in a friendly game.

“But the prominent Old Boys network, TSL has another strong heartbeat, the non-SMACKISTS: the friends, wives and girlfriends, children, all family members and guest players. We are very proud of this extended family and this is what this match day is about. Match day 26th is celebrating One Family,” said Vice Chairman Edwin Rwemigabo.

The SMACK league is a fun event for friends and family.

“We invite everyone to come have fun and network with us. Enjoy the Nyama Choma, Rolex, Music, drinks and take a sneak peek into the SMACK Culture. There will be free professional services from MedOptics and seasoned tax, medical and accounting professionals of the fraternity. We aim at creating a cordial environment for networking and a memorable day for all’, said the chairman.
