PHOTOS: 42-year-old woman arrested with 13 sub-machine guns, 17 grenades, pistols and explosives

A 42-year-old woman identified as Akech Flavia has been arrested by Police at the Bibia checkpoint in Elegu.

According to a statement released by Uganda police spokesperson Emilian Kayima, Flavia Akech who is a resident of Makerere in Kampala, was found carrying an assortment of explosives, 13 Sub-Machine gun magazines totalling 390 rounds of ammunition, 17 grenades, 16 grenade fuses, 596 rounds of loose ammunition,145 PK ammunition in a chain,348 PK loose ammunition, and 2 pistols among other weapons.

The key suspect has allegedly been working in South Sudan.

The weapons were found in a motor vehicle registration number UAP 771 K which was being driven by a one Otema Vincent.

In the statement, Police claim the owner of the Vehicle Flavia Akech had evaded border security by hiring a Boda Boda rider to get him across the border.

The driver of the vehicle along with the boda-boda rider was also arrested by Police.

Two other suspects, Nadome and Muzamiru Faiza were arrested with Ms. Akech.
