The definition of beauty has evolved and the average person faces an increased amount to pressure to achieve what is deemed as an attractive body because appearance means more than ever before. Unfortunately, this has presented an opportunity for unscrupulous individuals to make a killing by taking advantage of unsuspecting victims.

Cosmetics on display

The desperate search for the perfect body has led to an increasing number of people purporting to have short cuts to achieving the ideal body.

During an interview with Stefan on Sanyu FM’s Love Zone, Dr. Chirag Kotecha who is the Lead Cosmetic Medicine Specialist at Avane Cosmetic Clinic &MediSpa had this to say,“Many people especially young people are becoming more conscious of their appearances and there is nothing wrong with that. You have to first be happy with yourself before you can make others happy.” He however added that people need to use qualified professionals, genuine procedures and genuine products to have this done safely & the right way.

Stefan (Love Zone show host on Sanyu FM) probed Dr. Kotecha further to reveal some of the common fake products that “quack” specialists give the unsuspecting victims but he declined to reveal any names. He however clarified that no lotion or oil can be smeared on one’s body to enhance their body features and that there’s no scientific proof to that.“It can only be done through surgery & implants. Currently, at Avane Cosmetic Clinic &MediSpa located at Forest Mall,we domild enhancements by injecting some collagen which is very safe. He added that they also do safe Tummy tucks at the clinic.

On the touchy topic of men becoming increasingly metrosexual and more mindful of their appearances, Dr. Kotecha explained that currently, it is mainly balding that they deal with most at the clinic. He added that they offer balding treatments that are applied on the scalp to stimulate hair growth on the balding area and that it is affordable for the regular Ugandan.

On the flipside however, according to Dr. Kotecha, ultimately, there’s a big demand for permanent hair removal along the bikini areas and the under arms which is done safely at the clinic. “Understandably, many ladies want their bodies to be hair-free” he added.

He then warned that, quite often, people use unsafe products with bleaching components from downtown in quest for a lighter skin complexion which have grave side effects like thinning of the skin where one’s veins are very visible and uneven skin color which are extremely hard to reverse.

He also warned of people claiming to remove tattoos from the skin by injecting hydrogen peroxide on the tattooed area.He said that this damages the skin extensively and is largely irreversible.“These can only be removed by laser means which is all available at the clinic” he added.

Avane Cosmetic Clinic &MediSpa offers other services like safe facial fillers, penile girth improvements, g-spot amplification and so much more. They are located at Forest Mall along the Lugogo Bypass.
