The three-year wait for a league title is over.  Vipers SC is the 2017/18 the Uganda Premier League champions! Vipers went into the final game of the season two points above KCCA FC and needed a win to finish the job- and they did just that.

It took Vipers strong determination to come from behind after UPDF’s Janjali found the back of the net in the 24th minute. However, after several frantic misses, Yayo’s eqauliser in the extra time of the first half calmed down nerves before the break.

UPDF defender Othieno Deo had a day to forget as his blunders gave Vipers a day they will never forget. In the 65th minute, he handled the ball in the box gifting Erisa Ssekisambu the golden opportunity as the spot kick found the back of the net. Vipers sealed the game in 84th minute with Dan Sserunkuma capitalising on Othieno’s failure to clear the ball. Wangi Pius  later came in substitute for Dan and added the fourth goal in the extra time after normal time  as icing on the cake for Vipers’ hard fought title run. Vipers took the day 4 -1.

In the other game, KCCA’s title hopes came crushing as they shared spoils in a 2-2 thriller.

Congratulations Vipers.
