Four men arrested with fake airtime cards worth Shs112m

Police has arrested four men; Benin Biraaro, Robinson Muheki, Simon Bwambale and Isaac Akankwatsa for allegedly trading in fake MTN airtimes cards.

According to police, the suspects specialise in printing fake vouchers popularly called recharge cards from Democratic Republic of Congo, seal and then send them to Uganda through Kihihi a small town in Kanungu District to be distributed to unsuspecting victims.

With a rise in number of complaints , police investigations led to the fraudsters who pose as dealers in recharge cards.

They fell into the trap after accepting to meet potential buyers who were staged. On arrest Police recovered Shs112.5m worth of fake airtime recharge cards. They are currently detained at Nagalama Police Station.
