Man pours hot water on wife for allegedly bewitching her co-wives

Ephraim Luyira aged 36, is the man who has been arrested by police in Mukono for reportedly pouring hot water onto his wife, Betty Nyamiradayizima. According to a statement record at police, the family brawl erupted after Luyira getting rumour from one of his other wife pinning Nyamiradayizima for being the cause of their misfortunes.

Luyira returned home and immediately started beating up the wife with accusations of bewitching her two co wives. He then grabbed a saucepan of hot water on a charcoal stove and poured it on her.

Loud screams from Nyamiradayizima attracted neighbours who called the police. The wife was rushed to a hospital in Lugazi where she is hospitalized with severe wounds. The suspect is currently detained at Mukono Police and will face charges of causing grievous harm.
