Flair and flavour at Backyard Gardeners’ Show

Gardening enthusiast around the country flocked to the Kampala Sheraton gardens over the weekend in anticipation of the 3rd edition of the Backyard Gardeners’ Show that took place on Saturday, July 7 at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel.

Taking on a picnic theme for its third edition, the event attracted large numbers of gardening connoisseurs who came in to catch the show on a bright Saturday afternoon and Tusker Lite being one of the sponsors was right in the middle of things with abundant supply of the cold drink, adding flavor to the colorful event as guests sipped away to enthralling music and beautiful exhibitions.

The show that is designed as a lifestyle and family fair featured exhibitions from Builders Yard, Letshego, Davis and Shirtliff, Sheraton hotel among others, it also had an attractive lineup of guest speakers like Diana Nambatya Nansubuga, a recipient of the 2016 American Express NGen Leadership Award, and Essau Geoffrey Galukande, Deputy Director (Directorate of Gender Community Services & Production, KCCA)who talked about their experiences in gardening and how to uplift one’s craft.

“Gardening is part of who we are as a people in Uganda, and we believe it should be a fun activity. This year’s theme focused on the garden picnic and we all know a picnic is not complete without Tusker Lite in the picture,” said Grace Namutebi, Brand Manager – Premium Beers at Uganda Breweries Limited. I am glad that we had the opportunity to be a part of this she added.

The day was topped with performances from Michael Ouma, a fashion show from designers purple rain, an award giving ceremony were the best exhibitors were awarded with prizes for their exceptional work.
