“Johnnie Walker is an icon of progress. This partnership neatly aligns with our ‘Keep Walking Uganda’campaign, which stands to inspire personal progress. It is only fitting that we motivateour next generation of leaders through young achievers’ stories of passion, resilience and positivity powered by humanity’s strong will to progress onto the path to achieving greatness,” Mr. Agamba said.

The awards platform is designed to celebrate the achievements of youthful Ugandans who have excelled in realms such as the Arts, Entrepreneurship, Media and Journalism, Philanthropy, Innovation and Sports among others, as well as encourage those who choose the path of entrepreneurship and leadership.

“The partnership with Johnnie Walker on the Young Achievers Awards is both timely and strategic. We both believe in creating platforms that not only appeal to young people, but have a lasting impact,” said Humphrey Nabimanya, the Team Leader and Founder of Reach A Hand, Uganda.

The Young Achievers Awards were inaugurated in 2009 and the 2018 version will be held on August 18 to coincide with the International Youth Day week at Serena Hotel. This year’s edition will celebrate 10 most outstanding young people in the categories of; Social Entrepreneurship, Business, Information Communication Technologies (ICT) and Innovation, Outstanding Sports Personality, Media and Journalism, Farming and Agro-Processing, Music, Fashion, Film & Photography, Young Achiever of Year, Young Hero/Heroine of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement award.
