PHOTOS: Kampala Restaurant Week in stylish closing, best restaurants awarded

Kampala’s biggest restaurant showcase, the Kampala Restaurant Week, ended in a stylish, lavish dinner to crown the best participating restaurants.

The 10-day annual event had enlisted more than 40 restaurants, including some from upcountry towns like Jinja and Mbarara treating thousands of Uganda’s food enthusiasts to a variety of dishes at the best restaurants.

Monday, however, was the day the best restaurants – ones that made the biggest impression on foodies were recognised in an award ceremony at the Kurb, Kisementi.

Kaveli restaurant won the Most Outstanding Service award, Olives restaurant were the big winners of the night going away with both the Innovation Award and the Top Casual Dining Award better known among the Kampala Restaurant Week enthusiasts as the ‘Best Dish of the Week’ Award, while the Top Signature Dining award went to La Cabana restaurant.

The event, celebrating its fourth edition this year, was organised by Pearl Guide in partnership with Tusker Lite. It kicked off on August 1 and ran until August 11 featuring Chobe Safari Lodge as a holiday partner.

 “This week has been a rollercoaster of festivities; an unforgettable experience. For the winners tonight, I salute you thank you for taking part. It was amazing doing this with all of you,” said Grace Namutebi, UBL Premium Beer Brand Manager.

The Kampala Restaurant Week winners were selected by members of the public and a body of judges.
