He is part of 33 that were arrested on the eve of the election for allegedly stoning the president’s motorcade and subsequently charged with treason in Gulu.

“Arua made history. They elected someone who was confined behind bars. I owe them a lot of gratitude,” Wadri said.

This morning, having been released on bail, Wadri has taken oath as the duly elected MP of Arua.

The ceremony happened in the Speaker’s chambers because Parliament was adjourned until Tuesday next week and was officiated by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Jacob Oulanyah.

“My colleagues who stood by my side amidst the hostile environment and the state machinery, it is only God that can reward them,” Wadri said after taking oath.

He decried his three-months ban from visiting Arua saying that it will hurt the views of his constituents.

“My banishment from Arua for 90 days means that the views of the people of Arua will not be well represented. We shall appeal this decision.”

Wadri was in the company of his family, friends and some other MPs. The Former Terego county MP Wadri contested for the Arua seat on an Independent ticket.
