Brewed since 1759, Guinness is undoubtedly one of the world’s most iconic beer brands. Good news for the lovers of the ‘nectar of the gods’ is that Guinness now has a new look.

The retouched Guinness look was unveiled on Saturday, September 1 at the Kyadondo Rugby Club, amidst the excitement of the finale of the Guinness National Rugby Sevens Series, which the launch event coincided with.

“In keeping in tune with the Guinness consumer’s need for more in their world, it is only right that every once in a while Guinness adds more to its look. For that reason we are introducing a new look, with a new livery to make Guinness truly remain a standout from the pack,” said Uganda Breweries Limited’s Head of Beer, Estella Muzito.

“This change is only with the look; it is not a drastic change from current Guinness appearance, just a pop of colour that adds even more vibrancy and distinctness to our consumer’s favourite brand at the same price and with the same taste,” she added.

The venue for the unveiling, the Kyadondo fan park, was transformed into a Guinness hub with lots of fun as revellers got their opportunity to get acquainted with the new look while they enjoyed the English Premier League match between Manchester City and Newcastle.

“Guinness champions are those who contribute to a more fulfilling world, and sport is at the heart of the most enduring expressions of our brand DNA. Being true to that, Guinness is the official broadcast sponsor of the English Premier League on SuperSport and Canal+ across Africa,” Ms. Muzito said, adding that Guinness is the ultimate companion every weekend as consumers sit back and take a break from the week’s stress while they enjoy some of the world’s elite sports.

Closer to home, Guinness is the official sponsor of the National Rugby Sevens Cranes who are the defending Africa Rugby Sevens champions and recently represented Uganda at the Rugby Sevens World Cup in San Francisco, USA.

The Finale

As early as 10 am, the Kyadondo rugby grounds had come to life as the final leg of the Guinness National Rugby Sevens Series kicked off, with table leaders Buzz Pirates aiming to bounce back from the previous weekend’s disappointing loss to Buffaloes by wrapping up the series. Toyota Buffaloes placed second with 120 points and Betway Kobs in third on 117 ensured a fascinating final round of fixtures.

The Buzz Pirates emerged victorious of the series that got underway in June.
