The 2018 edition of the Uganda Cup will climax this weekend on Saturday, October 27 as Betway Kobs take on holders Black Pirates in the final at Legends Rugby Club. After three years of failing to break the semifinal deadlock, Kobs will be playing in its first Uganda Cup final since 2015 where they lost 13-10 to Heathens. To reach this year’s final, Kobs battered record winners Heathens 10-8 in a hotly contested game.

“As players we always fight to reach such big stages and we are ready. We shall give our all to win the game against an opponent who knocked us out in the semis last year,” Kobs
captain Brian Asaba told Matooke Republic.

Reigning Sevens champions Pirates defeated Buffaloes 23-9 to storm the final and will be plotting to continue their dominance in local rugby this year as they won the Rugby premiership and the Rugby Sevens.

Pirates and Kobs last met in the Cup final in 2011. Kobs overran their rivals 29-5. Pirates captain Ivan Magomu is confident that his side will emerge victorious saying; “Every game is a lesson and as players we train hard to improve. All players are fully charged for the Saturday battle.”
