Is God involved in luring people to NRM? Well, former presidential candidate, Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba recently claimed that  ‘God’ has asked him to join the ruling party NRM! Baryamureeba made the ‘revelation’ at Ibanda University graduation ceremony last week. However, FDC Spokesperson Hon Ssemujju Nganda believes Baryamureeba’s ‘divine intervention’ claim has ashamed his title as a professor.

“I was one of those who had been made to believe that Baryamureeba was an asset; I even went to interview him during his Vice Chancellor days. His caliber should be discussing issues affecting this country and giving us solutions but he also wants to join the table which is disappointing. He’s shaming the title of a professor,” Ssemujju stated.

The Kira Municipality MP continues to say that professors should be offering leadership options to the country but not joining a group that is regarded as a hindrance by the majority.

“The country should be involved in a debate on how to make Uganda better and it should be led by professors. Increasingly, they’ve become fortune hunters and that’s a disappointment”, he stated.
