Following cries from fans, club owners among others, the 2018/19 FUFA Big League fixtures were finally released last week on Thursday.

And according to the Fufa competitions organizing department, just like the cases that happened in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, a few clubs had failed to secure playing licences and others failing to meet the standard playing fields (with all green surface, internal perimeter fencing and dressing rooms) among others.

Putting that on the back since the league officially kicks off today Thursday with nine fixtures to be played on different venues. For the past two years, the Big League has prominently gained popularity amongst the football fraternity hence it’s the reason nowadays fans look up for it.   We now look at the teams tipped to fight for the three promotional UPL spots next season.

Proline FC

After being relegated for the first time last season, the club made various advancements from the technical department to the players themselves. And with Shafiq Bisaso in charge, it looks Proline will not last long in the Big League as it will try make its way back in the top division.

Wakiso Giants

The league big spenders Wakiso Giants start their ‘targeted’ campaign on a long trip to Lira facing Amuka Bright Stars. The club has arguably had one of the most geared up preparations for this season playing mainly against UPL clubs like KCCA FC, Vipers, and URA among others.

Wakiso Giants that last season played as Kamuli Park finished seventh in the Elgon group will be plotting to make it happen this time round. It has invested a lot in signing experienced players like Stephen Bengo and with an experienced Coach in the names of Ibrahim Kirya, their mission looks possible.

Entebbe FC

Some might be wondering why we are including Entebbe FC, for starters, Entebbe FC is a new rebrand of Masavu FC that got relegated last season but that’s not yet the reason we are tipping it to bounce back. Do you now Coach Allan Kabongea man grabbing headlines for the last two seasons for guiding teams Onduparaka FC and Paidha Black Angels in the UPL. We cannot underestimate his speciality in doing this for Entebbe FC.

Kitara FC

If you watched last year’s Big League playoffs at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo I guess you remember Kitara FC a team that had thousands of its fans throng the Arena. It narrowly lost to Paidha in the final game and I don’t think they can manage to suffer the same this season. Last season western region based club finished second in the Rwenzori region just behind promoted Nyamityobora FC.

Kyetume FC

For the past three consecutive seasons, Kyetume FC has tried to make its way to the big table but they could lose it on the way. However, last season they made a big step to fulfilling their dream but lost in the playoffs. This season the can do better since they have almost the same roaster that featured last season.

Amuka Bright Stars

Depending on the fact that we have had two teams from the North in the past two seasons Onduparaka and Paidha, it’s no doubt Amuka Bright Stars can be the surprise team to fight for the promotion spots. They have had tense preparation for the new season playing teams like Onduparaka and Paidha, they look set to exceed the potential they showed last season where the finished eighth in the Elgon group.
