HEALTH: How to fight a breakout of pimples and acne

It’s that time of the year when holiday makers make their grand return back home from school. A majority are undergoing hormonal changes which have affected their self-esteem. For a long time pimples and acnes have been a nightmare to the teenagers most especially when they hit puberty.

Acne is a skin disease whereas a pimple is one of the symptoms of acne. Acne develops when the skin pore gets blocked. It is characterized by the formation of plugged pores referred to as blackheads, whiteheads, pimples.  On the other hand pimples are red inflamed and infected oil glands, sometime filled with pus.

In cases of chronic acne breakout one is advised to visit a skin specialist for a blood test. This helps the skin specialist on what prescription to give the patient. The mistake most people do is to use different creams without visiting a skin doctor.

According to Dr Chirag Kotecha, a Doctor at Avane Cosmetic Clinique, the steps below are a will help you prevent acne and pimple outbreaks.
  • Drink lots of water and exercise regularly.
  • Limit greasy food and processed food consumption.
  • Avoid wearing dirty clothes
  • Eat less artificial sugars.
  • Ensure your beddings are fresh and clean.
  • Take regular showers.
