The grand finale of the inaugural Miss Curvy Uganda pageant took place at Imperial Royale Hotel on Friday evening. Belinda Nansaasi won the crown to walk away with a Jeep Cherokee, while raise Nansamba was 1st Runner-u and Mariam Namukasa placed third overall. But there was more to it. Our pictures and their captions below tell you the story of the evening:

First, the contestants gave a ‘Jaribu’ –making a brief appearance in simple t-shirts and pants to get the audience’s appetite started.
Then it was full figures on display.
Full figures, we have said, proving why those whose Mamas didn’t give them enough assets didn’t belong to that podium.
Bridal wear was showcased too.
Bridal wear it was, still.
Even the hands on stage were curvy. Agatha Loswash was a perfect fit, and surely she enjoyed her night as you can see from how she even had the time and drive to change dresses like she was a contestant too — in red on the left, and in black on the right.
The sights on the runway were truly something to remember.
Caption it yourself, whatever you make of it too.
Let your mind make of these sights whatever it will.
There were ululations as the contestants walked the runway showing off what their momas gave ’em.
And the contestants enjoyed the cheers.
It wasn’t just showing curves; to survive elimination one had to show brain power too, answering questions from the judges.
It was curves in the audience too. Left is reigning Miss Uganda Central,
We’ve said it was curves even in the audience.
Left: the judges consult among themselves. Right: The VIPS also discuss the curves they had just seen.
The house was almost full.
These ones were the winners according to the organisers’ judgement of the boot camp performance (before judges judged the performance of the night). Left to right: Miss Congeniality, Miss Popularity, Miss Ebony, Miss Inspiration, Miss Photogenic and Miss Talent.
And then it was Top Ten business.
Then it got down to the Top Five.
Phina Mugerwa Masanyalaaze showed her own amazingly flexible little curves.

Tourism Minister Kiwanda explaining the pageant and why his ministry came on board to support it (flanked by Miss Curvy Uganda CEO Anne Mungoma). Right: Chief Guest, government chief whip making a few remarks.
Left: Belinda Nansamba must have felt her heart pounding almost to a crash after she was announced pageant winner. Right: Chief Guest Ruth Nankabirwa crowning the Queen.
