StarTimes together with partners MTN Uganda and TECNO Mobile Uganda have donated computers to five secondary schools in Mukono district. The donation comes from proceeds of the second edition of Heroes in Color Run, a charity event organized by StarTimes.

The charity event themed “Digitalizing the Future” took place in September 2019 and was organized in collaboration with partners to raise awareness about various problems.

The beneficiary schools that will each get desktops are Namilyango College, Kasawo Secondary school, Kasana Vocational School, Sir Apollo Kaggwa Senior Secondary School, and St. Charles Lwanga Senior Secondary School. The donation is part of StarTimes’ efforts to contribute towards the introduction of ICT in schools.

StarTimes PR Manager Cleopatra Koheirwe said, “At StarTimes, we love to support great initiatives such as TECNO’s Heroes in Color Run. A  cause that has to do with giving back to society and helping develop the youth matters a lot to us. This is why we were glad to be actively involved in supporting TECNO to “digitalize the future.”

“A lot has been said about ICT and how everything has gone digital these days which cannot be ignored. We have to keep up with the times. So it is of great importance that students learn computer skills and are technologically equipped in order to sustain themselves in this digital era. We congratulate the schools upon receiving the computers and we hope that our contribution will go a long way in shaping their future.”  added Cleopatra.
