Bugweri County MP Abdu Katuntu, has said he will not contest again in the next general elections as he feels he has done enough in his capacity for the people of Bugweri.

“I am not available as a Member of Parliament for Bugweri County in the next election,” Abdu Katuntu said while appearing on NBS TV’s Morning Breeze Show.

Katuntu said the 20 years he has been re-elected in the position have enabled him effect a series of development in Bugweri and it is time to move on when his term expires in 2021.

Such news will for sure be music in the ears of Sports Journalist Ismail Dhakaba Kigongo since he earlier on came out and revealed how he is ready to contest for the Bugweri seat come 2021.

With Dhakaba still concealing the party ticket he will use to contest, sources around Katuntu camp reveal he will endorse one of the members from his campaign team.

Katuntu is a practicing lawyer, a member of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and was first elected as a MP in 2001. He served as the chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee of Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) before handing over the office to Kawempe South legislator Mubarak Munyagwa early this year.
