A one Mr. Ronald Bwire has dragged Bugema University to the High Court for the banning of skimpy dresses, earrings, necklaces, bangles, coloured nails, lipstick, and trousers among others for all female students.

Through his lawyers Mayende & Associated Advocates, petitioner, Bwire says the imposed bans are a violation of the rights of the female students.

“The impugned notice is a threat not only to constitutionalism and rule of law but also to Uganda’s efforts to respect, promote and uphold rights and status of women,” the suit reads in part.

Last year in December, Bugema University pinned a ban notice and warned students who will fail to adhere to the developments.

“No student should come back with the above mentioned next semester. Culprits will face university disciplinary committee for serious action,” the notice warned.
