Police spokesperson Fred Enanga has revealed that the quick swing in mission of security operatives to intercept robbers on Tuesday night at Kyambogo, saw them recover over Shs2.4 billion.

During yesterday’s police briefing at the headquarters, Enanga said that the cash has already been returned to Stanbic Bank.

Enanga also disclosed the current status of the investigations saying besides the two armed men who were shot dead, including Bright Turyatunga a former member of the Special Forces Command (SFC) and one who is still unidentified, police is hunting for the G4S security firm driver Micheal Okech who is said to have  Chloroformed the guards on the van.

“We managed to get his (Okech) ID and small phone which he dropped while escaping,” said Enanga.

The bullion van and the Premio car which the robbers were using have already been parked at the CID headquarters in Kibuli for further analysis. Enanga advised businesses that the transport of bulk cash should always be strict.
