American superstar R. Kelly was yesterday taken back into custody for failing to pay child support fees $161,000 (about Shs598m) he owes to his ex-wife and their three children.

However, according to the “I Believe I Can Fly” publicist Darryll Johnson, R. Kelly is willing to pay the fees but he is of recent facing financial difficulties. Johnson says, the singer was willing to pay to pay $50,000 to $60,000 of what he owed.

“We were coming expecting that he was going to come and make an arrangement, but they wanted the entire amount. The reason he can’t pay, as you know, he hadn’t worked in a long time. He can’t book shows he can’t do anything,” Johnson said.

R. Kelly is now likely to remain in jail until his next court hearing on March 13, 2019. Such fresh troubles come weeks after R Kelly was detained on sex abuse charges against four victims, three of them minors and he had to bare three nights in jail before securing his $100,000 bail. The 52-year-old music star, however, pleaded not guilty of the sex abuse charges.
