Former television personality Justine Nameere is no stranger to controversy. She is back in the news for the wrong reasons and this time she is going to serve up to six months of jail time in Luzira.

Nameere allegedly failed to pay up a Shs55m debt to a one Emmanuel Muwonge which forced the businessman to take the matter to court. According to Muwonge, Nameere sold him a Mercedes Benz that she had already used as security with Platinum Credit.

Nameere promised to refund the money in August last year, a promise she defaulted to fulfil. Muwonge’s lawyer Allan Tumwesigye from Lubega & Co advocates said that they deployed people at different police stations with her picture to get her arrested. Tumwesigye also added that Nameere is a serial con artist, and that she already has numerous police cases.

The Nameere family has been immersed in controversies and lawsuits in the past, Nameere having battled it out with NTV news anchor Faridah Nakazibwe and her (Nameere) husband Raymond Kagimba Mugimba being remanded on Friday, and had earlier been sent to Luzira in February this year for assaulting a Bolt (Taxify) driver.

According to a sentence read to her by Flavia Nabakooza, the execution and bailiff’s court registrar, Nameere will stay in Luzira’s civil prison for up to 6 months or until she pays her debt.

Nameere is daughter to Minister of Agriculture Vincent Bamulanzeki Ssempijja.
