A year after government introduced OTT tax where subscribers are required to pay a daily fee of Shs200 to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) before accessing their social networking Apps like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and WhatAspp, government is yet meet the set financial goal.

The URA boss, Dorris Akol while delivering the annual revenue performance figures said that the tax that was introduced to increase on the country’s revenue didn’t meet its target.

“The story of OTT is different. It was targeted at Shs. 284billion, we only collected Shs49.5billion with a deficit of Shs. 234 billion,” said Akol.
